Hey Pittsburgh, You can have Jimmy Howard for a first round......
Of beers at your pub, plus a roll of duck tape to gag and bind Jeff Blashill as we wheel him out the main entrance of LCA

Thanks for re-typing everything we have already said on the last thread Ryan, way to be up to date.
Off topic but did you ever notice that a huge portion of NHL players with family members that also play or have played in the NHL have last names that start with the letter S? It curious. |

Even if you retained half of his bloated salary he is way too injury prone. How long is his contract? Correau on the other hand i might be open to. |

You can get them all for a decent draft pick. Howard, Coreau, Mrazek. Pick your choice. |

JR has it all wrong.
Niemi played well, it was the team in front that was bad. That's due to tired legs having to carry Reaves!!!!
Did Ryan mention that in the blog amongst the squiggly lines?

IMO it was a mix of both. The team definitely didn't do anything to keep those games close and Niemi really did come up with some big impressive saves at times, but overall he let in more goals that he should have had than ones he shouldn't have. |

I would have been more than happy if Niemi was at least average. At least the Penguins acted quickly. |

Never mind, it's DeSmith.
Mon, Oct 23
Pittsburgh has called up goaltender Casey DeSmith.
Advice: The Penguins waived Antti Niemi on Monday, so DeSmith will serve as Matt Murray's backup for now. He has been superb in the AHL this season with a 3-0-0 record, a 0.98 GAA and a .965 save percentage. |

Calvin Pickard waived then traded to Leafs. With Marlies now. Would cost us something (I guess). Would he have to clear waivers coming up? Dunno.
Tim Cheveldae must have had a kid who's a prospect. Grab'im!

I don't think players have to be exposed to waivers coming up from the AHL. Waivers is pro-player, it gives them a chance to stay in the NHL with any team so they keep on making their NHL salary. |

I can't help but think that the Lightning drove a stake through the heart of Niemi's career. I almost feel bad for the guy.

Well... They had a lot of help from the Pens. Total lack of defensive commitment in every minute of his 3 starts. |

Agree. The Pens looked really off in that second game. With the D-men, the drop-off after Letang is steep. If Sid and Geno are firing on all cylinders, they can live with a shallow defense (as last year proved), but when Sid and Geno dry up, things can get dicey fast if your goalie doesn't play lights out.
